Swarnamrutha Prasana
Often referred to as the “Golden Elixir,” is a traditional Ayurvedic practice that has gained recognition and popularity for its potential health benefits. Rooted in ancient Indian wisdom and holistic healing.
The Swarnaprasana method has a special mention in Ayurvedic classics. It dates back to 1000s of years ago and is described under Ja:takarma Samskara (neonatal care) as one of the 16 essential Samska:ras described in Ayurveda and also as an age-old proven method of immunisation described by Maharshi Kashyapa in Kashyapa Samhitha.
सुवर्णप्राशनं ह्येतन्मेधाग्निबलवर्धनम् | आयुष्यं मङ्गलम् पुण्यं वृष्यं वर्ण्यं ग्रहापहम् || मासात् परममेधावी व्याधिभिर्न च ध्रुश्यते | षड्भिर्मासैः श्रुतधरः सुवर्नप्राशनाद्भवेत् ||
Preparation and Process
Swarnamrutha prasana involves the administration of pure gold in minuscule quantities, in the form of a micro-fine particles, along with other natural ingredients like honey, ghee (clarified butter), and specific memory enhancing/immuno-booster herbs.
Gajaputa Setup
It is a pit in the ground, which works as a furnace. It is one and a quarter cubits in length, breadth and depth
Preparation
The metals of metallic compounds to be burnt are enclosed in a covered crucible and placed in the center of pit within the balls of Cow Dung
Bhasma
Gajaputa is then set on fire until the metals are burned to ashes and is called Bhasma

In the case of healthy infants, it serves as a preventive measure, warding off ailments and promoting overall well-being. For infants facing health issues, it takes on a curative role. This administration occurs monthly on the day of Pushyami Nakshatra, starting from birth until the age of 16 or as directed by medical professionals.
